About the Highland House Inn
Eleven miles from the historic gold rush town of Mariposa, in the lower elevations of the mighty Sierra Nevada mountains, lies the Highland House Inn. The home sits on a secluded, ten acre plot of land heavily wooded with Cedar, Ponderosa Pine and Black Oak. It is due West of Wawona and backs onto the Sierra National Forest.
A High Country Cottage
Built in the 1980’s, the architect’s commission was to design a home with the character of a country cottage naturally set in the forest. You can see this in the roof lines, the chimney and the multi-pained windows, each of which opens to a view of the meadow and forest. Inside the architectural theme continues, yet all the modern amenities are present.
You may come as a stranger, but you’ll leave as a friend. I am delighted to welcome new friends and old to Highland House. We’re here to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable.
Your Host, Michael Comerford
